A teen in Mount Vernon, New York has pleaded guilty to the death of 16-year-old Kayla Green on April 8, 2022. According to authorities, the suspect (15) was attending an after school event where Green—a cheerleader—was as well.
New York Teen Pleads Guilty to Stabbing and Killing 16-Year-Old Girl – Will Be Sentenced In January 2023
It was during the celebratory event that the suspect stabbed Kayla Green in the abdomen and another 15-year-old. The 15-year-old would survive their injuries but Green wouldn’t be so fortunate and field at the Jacobi Medical Center. On December 20, 2022, the suspect pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter.
She was charged with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The charges associated with the stabbing of the second teen were dropped in consideration of the suspect’s age.
Her sentencing is scheduled for January 24, 2023 and she could face anywhere between three and nine years in prison.
