It’s hard to deny the status of Shawn Michaels as one of the biggest names in WWE history. From his time in the Rockers, to being the WWF Champion, forming DX with Triple H, being involved in the Montreal Screwjob, and his return from back injury in the 2000’s – he’s had one of the most storied careers in WWE history. However with others like Steve Austin having recently made their return to the ring, some have wondered if they could see The Heartbreak Kid hit the ring again.
Father Time Waits For No Man
While speaking with Culture State, the legendary Shawn Michaels would confirm that he has no plans to lace up his boots for another match. HBK would be quoted saying the following when asked if he ever intends to wrestle again.
”Yeah, I’ve had that final match. No, father time waits on no man. I’m good, I’m unbelievably happy with my career, and it is now time to watch the next generation flourish.”
The final match of Shawn Michaels came at Crown Jewel 2019, when he left retirement to team with Triple H to face Undertaker & Kane in a disaster of a tag team match. Many felt Michaels should have stayed retired, with his match against Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 being the perfect end to his career.
Being The Head Of WWE NXT Suits Shawn Michaels At This Stage Of His Career
Since 2021, Shawn Michaels has been the head of creative for WWE’s NXT brand. He led the brand into the NXT 2.0 transition while Triple H recovered from a heart attack, having previously been the head booker for NXT UK. Triple H has since returned to work, taking charge as head of creative for Monday Night RAW & Smackdown Live.
Michaels has found an on-screen presence as the acting GM of the NXT brand, appearing to strip Solo Sikoa of the NXT North American Championship and to announce the Iron Survivor Challenge match. NXT went through a rough patch when Michaels initially took over, but has become one of the most consistent shows in WWE once again.
