Rich Swann Talks About Resigning with Impact Wrestling

It was recently announced that Rich Swann resigned with Impact Wrestling for two years, and it’s a great move for both as he’s been a great talent for them and he’s been treated well by them.

He originally signed with Impact Wrestling in 2018 after a run in the WWE where he was Cruiserweight Champion and looking to begin a new chapter in his career.

Rich Swann Talks About Resigning with Impact Wrestling

After becoming a top talent in the X-Division, Swann moved on to become Impact Wrestling World Champion in 2021 following an awesome feud with Eric Young.

While he eventually lost the title to Kenny Omega in what many consider not to be his best match with Omega dominating from the start, his effort and heart as he tried to hold on told a great story and he’s remained a top competitor.

    Keeping it going

For that and more, his resigning with Impact Wrestling isn’t a surprise, and he talked about why he decided to stay in an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT.

Special thanks to Wrestlingnews.co for the transcript.

“Man, the world of Rich Swann has definitely been lighting up. I mean, I’ve got a one year old baby now, a little Richie Jr. And I’ve also signed a two year deal with IMPACT Wrestling. [Congratulations] I appreciate that. IMPACT Wrestling has done nothing but you know, treat me with the utmost respect. And it’s been a place where I’ve been able to grow, I’ve been able to watch other competitors grow. And I’ve been able to watch the company grow into a spot to where you know, it should be, you know what I’m saying?

“You know, right now, wrestling is just like I said, there’s so much of everything, all forms of entertainment. And wrestling right now is prospering. Like you have your AEW that’s doing great. You have WWE has turned around, turned a new leaf and they’re doing great. IMPACT Wrestling, the experience that I had ever since I started with IMPACT in 2018 has been nothing but love, nothing but prospering, nothing but watching the company grow into what it is today, and to be a part of that and helping that. After all the years of people saying, Oh, IMPACT’s gonna die? Oh, TNA is dead. To be a part of that, you know what I’m saying? Helping it come back up to where it’s at today. That right there makes me feel good. And like I said, it lets me know that I’m doing something right in this industry.”

Impact Wrestling has long been considered the cockroach company of professional wrestling for refusing to die.

There are many that cite their small venues as reasons the WWE or AEW should buy them, but that’s what makes the company so awesome. It’s growing on it’s own terms and has a loyal fanbase in a throwback to the studio wrestling style from the 1980s.

And their growth has been because of the talents wrestlers like Rich Swann bring, and in many ways there’s still plenty of room for the company to grow and we’re happy Swann will remain to be a part of that.
