Florida Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Shooting Landlord Who Tried to Kick Him and His Girlfriend Out
He demanded that Matthews and his girlfriend leave his property. These two have had issues in the past because the landlord said that he’d return to have him removed by force if he wasn’t gone in 10 minutes. The landlord returned 15 minutes later and demanded that the couple leave again.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, Matthews drew a gun on his landlord and threatened him. The landlord turned to leave the room and was shot in the collarbone. Deputies arrived and arrested Matthews shortly afterward.
During an interview with investigators, Matthews said the landlord’s mistreatment of him had become too much. He also claims that the landlord kicked his girlfriend while heading to the bedroom. The Sheriff’s Office reported that the landlord didn’t threaten violence nor was he armed.
Michael Matthews was charged with attempted murder as well as possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and is jailed at the Seminole County Jail.
