Famous Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida, once dubbed as “the most beautiful woman in the world,” has passed away at the age of 95. As reported by AP News, the late actress’ agent shared the news of her passing on Monday, January 16, 2023 in Rome.

Also sharing the news of Gina’s passing, Culture minister Gennaro Sangiuliano wrote on Twitter: “Farewell to a diva of the silver screen, protagonist of more than half a century of Italian cinema history. Her charm will remain eternal.” The late actress’ agent, Paola Comin, however, did not share further details surrounding her cause of death.

Fans of the Hollywood star know that she underwent surgery back in September, 2022 to repair a broken thigh bone after she fell down, and she recovered quickly. She was even able to start walking in not time, so it doesn’t appear that her passing is related to the surgery she had last year. Gina was 95 years old when she died, so her fans believe she died due to an age related issue.
Gina Lollobrigida was born on July 4, 1927, in Subiaco, Italy. She was dubbed “the most beautiful woman in the world.” As shared by AP News, a drawn portrait of the actress was featured on the 1954 cover of Time Magazine. The magazine’s edition featured an article about her beauty being likened to that a goddess. Gina still turned heads during her old age with her magnificent curly locks and her gorgeous figure.
As stated by IMDb, the Italian beauty had 69 acting credits to her name. Come September, Trapeze, and Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell are some of the more notable titles she is associated with. Gina’s career path wasn’t limited to acting. The late Italian actress was an accomplished photographer. She also was a painter and a sculptor.
