This years edition of Wrestlemania will be one to remember, and maybe not for all the best reasons. Previous years Wrestlemania events have been remembered for big matches and moments, but Wrestlemania 36 will be known as the crowdless one. Due to the threat of COVID-19, it was moved to the WWE Performance Center. But we won’t be getting a 7 hour show from the arena, but rather two shows to split up the action, and with a special host.
Gronk Announced As The Host Of Wrestlemania
Having recently signed a deal with WWE, and scheduled to appear on Friday Night Smackdown, former New England Patriots Star Rob Gronkowski has been assigned as the host of Wrestlemania 36. It was through his Twitter that it was announced that Wrestlemania would be a two night event.
“It’s official! I’m hosting WrestleMania this year…and it’s gonna be too big for just one night. For the 1st time, WrestleMania will be a 2-NIGHT event: Saturday, April 4 AND Sunday, April 5 on WWE Network! Tell you more this Friday night on SmackDown at 8 ET on FOX.”
Two Nights Will Be Safer, As Well As Easier To Watch
With the recommendation of not having gatherings of more than 50 people, it is clear why Wrestlemania is to be handled in this way. By splitting the planned card in half, you are very easily able to give them same action while not having everyone in the Performance Center at the same time. Another major perk is that Wrestlemania will not be an endurance test this year. Past events reached the 7 hour mark, but with two shows we will get that cut in half.
How Should The Card Be Split?
With many title matches and intense feuds to be had, it won’t be hard to split Wrestlemania into two shows. The main events will likely be the WWE & Universal Championship matches, and each night is also likely to hold one of Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena & Edge vs. Randy Orton. Add in planned Women’s and Tag Title matches, as well as Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins & Undertaker vs. AJ Styles and WWE could pull out two stacked cards with very little filler.
Do you think Wrestlemania will work better as a two night event? Should they have just run one card with the essential matches? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
