A Florida man is battling serious injuries after crashing his homemade airplane in Volusia County. If this case sounds oddly familiar, it’s because in November 2022, a 73-year-old man died in Volusia County after buying a single-engine plane that crashed in a tree. That pilot was planning to fly his purchase home when the crash occurred.
78-Year-Old Florida Man Seriously Injured After Homemade Airplane Crashes in the Woods
In this case, Vincent Grasso’s plane left a private airport on January 30, 2023 and witnesses observed the man making two hard l left bank turns before hearing the engine going off. They would watch as the plane disappeared below the tree line before crashing in the nearby woods.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and local residents showed up at the scene of the crash and found Grasso upside down in a tree, he was still strapped to the pilot seat. He was unconscious and rushed to a medical facility in Daytona Beach for treatment.
Authorities are still investigating the crash to determine what happened to case the plane crash.
