The career of Mick Foley is an interesting one to follow, as the Hardcore Icon proved that changing styles can be essential to keeping your career moving. Foley is well known for making some of the most dangerous stunts in professional wrestling, with his match against The Undertaker in Hell in a Cell going down in history. He truly put his body on the line in his career, but found ways to fill the gaps with character – and now urges AEW’s Darby Allin to do the same, knowing Allin is going down a similar path.

Mick Foley Offers Advice To Darby Allin
On the latest edition of Foley Is Pod, Foley would offer some advice to Allin to find a way to add layers to his character that don’t involve the insane risks he’s come to be known for.
“He’s a phenomenal athlete and he comes from the world of extreme sports. He’s like a cat and then he lands on his feet. He’s got incredible body control. But I think every performer has to find a different gear that they can go into as much wild stuff as I did. I was able to temper it with the promos and by shifting gears and injecting humor.”
I think almost every guy with a long history, not talking about the guys who could go from territory to territory and basically recreate that same push each time, talking about the guys who had the long runs in WWE, WCW found another gear and that it often involved humor. And so Darby, I haven’t seen him in a couple of years or talked to him, but he’s a soft spoken young man and he probably should find a way to add layers to that character that doesn’t necessitate taking those risks all the time.”
Allin Has Been Off TV For Two Weeks After Brutal Match Against Samoa Joe
We most recently saw Allin in action on AEW Dynamite two weeks ago, where he lost the TNT Championship to Samoa Joe in a No Holds Barred match, after taking a Muscle Buster onto the exposed planks of the ring. Allin took numerous harsh bumps in the match beyond that, including crashing into the steel ringside barricades. He’s not currently advertised for AEW Dynamite or Rampage this week.
