Jeff Jarrett still wants to wrestle on AEW Dynamite a day after his father and famed wrestling promoter Jerry Jarrett passed at 80-years-old. Tony Khan confirmed that the younger Jarrett still intended to wrestle during an interview with Busted Open Radio.
Tony Khan Confirms Former NWA and TNA World Champion Jeff Jarrett Will Wrestle On AEW Dynamite a Day After Father Jerry Jarrett’s Death
On the show, the AEW promoter spoke highly of Jerry Jarrett as a promoter. From 1977 until 1995, the elder Jarrett promoted wrestling out of the Memphis territory. His territory took the form of the Continental Wrestling Association and the USWA.
During a break from promoting, Jarrett worked as a consultant for WWE and WCW. He was one of the interested partners in the latter but eventually co-founded what would become IMPACT Wrestling with his son in 2002 as J Sports Entertainment.
On Jeff Jarrett deciding to wrestle on the 2/15 edition of AEW Dynamite, Khan said that Jeff was in town (Laredo, Texas) and wished to wrestle on the show. Khan expressed his respect for his fellow promoter to do so:
“And that is such a brave and courageous decision, I think, and we would respect whatever Jeff wants to do.”
Jeff Jarrett is scheduled to team up with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt—both of whom wrestled for him in the TNA days—and Satnam Singh. The quartet will face off against Orange Cassidy, Billy Gunn, and The Best Friends.
