It has been reported that Queen Consort Camilla will be formally referred to as “Queen” after King Charles III’s coronation ceremony.
Reports Stress Queen Consort Camilla Will Be Called Queen After Charles’ Coronation
The nuptials between the King and Camilla took place nearly a period of eight years after the passing of his first spouse, Princess Diana, Princess of Wales.
Charles and Diana were wed for a period of 15 years, commencing in 1981 and concluding in 1996, and they are the parents of Princes William and Prince Harry.
The coronation is planned to take place on Saturday, 6th May 202. The late Queen Elizabeth II, prior to her passing in September, stated it was her aspiration that Camilla would be recognized as Queen Consort as she continued to be loyal.
Last June, on the 70th anniversary of her ascension to the monarchy, the late Queen issued a proclamation altering her title from Princess Consort to Queen Consort.
In her comments at the Platinum Jubilee, the former monarch remarked: “And when, in fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me.
“And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort.” Therefore, according to a report which cites anonymous sources inside Buckingham Palace, the royal may choose to go with the less complex title of Queen instead of the more elaborate Queen Consort.
A source confirmed the following: “There’s a view in the palace that Queen Consort is cumbersome and it might be simpler for Camilla to be known just as the Queen when the time is right.”
The officials at Buckingham Palace are allegedly examining the titles used for the King’s grandparent’s wife for guidance. Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the wife of King George VI, became Queen Elizabeth upon her husband’s coronation and later was referred to as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother after his passing.
