House of Black now reign supreme on top of the AEW World Trios division after defeating The Elite at AEW Revolution. When the Jericho Appreciation Society would look to jump the line for a title shot, House of Black would make a choice to take down both teams.
Now as AEW comes to Winnipeg for the first time, Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho will both finally get their chance to fight in front of their hometown on a big stage – and Malakai Black would love nothing more than to bring the downfall of these two hometown heroes.
House Of Black Hope To Control The Match
King would start things with Guevara, who could be split between trying for the Trios titles and AEW World Championship. Guevara was sent into the corner with a stiff chop, right into a tag from Garcia – who took the next chop before trying to tag in a member of The Elite. They refused, and Garcia was kicked into a tag to Jericho – who would be faced with Omega.
Before they could clash, Black & Matthews would attack them both – starting a big brawl at ringside. Black would kick Omega in the side of the face, and House of Black had hushed the crowd and gained control of the match. King would grind an elbow into the face of Jericho in the ring – as the crowd tried to hype Jericho up.
Jericho fought to his feet – but Black was there to ensure things didn’t drift far from a spot of control. Judas Effect was ducked, but Jericho also ducked the Back Heel Kick. Butterfly Backbreaker landed on Black, before Guevara got the tag and helped with a double dropkick. Garcia would tag in, but got caught in a kneebar and had to get an assist from Guevara.
Black would hold his own in this two on one situation, before Nick Jackson tagged into the match. Matthews caught Nick going for a moonsault to the floor, before throwing him into a knee strike from Black. Nick tried to complete the tag, and got Omega into the match. A flying crossbody took Matthews down, before Black took the Snap Dragon Suplex – with King taking the second suplex.
Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega Give Their Hometown What They Want To See
Fireman’s Carry into Springboard Moonsault landed on Matthews, getting a two count. Matthews would hit a back elbow smash, only to be sent into a tag to Jericho with a hurricanrana. Omega & Jericho would work together to beat down House of Black before getting into a hockey fight. V-Trigger Knee Strike dropped Jericho, before House of Black interjected once again.
Matthews would almost take a V-Trigger himself, but Jericho caught Omega into the Walls Of Jericho. Young Bucks nailed a double superkick to Jericho, before taking down Black, Guevara & King, who came back twice as hard with a double lariat. Jericho & Omega would trade forearm smashes in the middle of the ring, neither man finding the upperhand.
More strikes were traded, with Jericho throwing forearm smashes to send Omega to the apron – who ducked the Triangle Dropkick before trying for the Terminator Dive – nailing Jericho. Young Bucks would be taken off the top rope by Guevara & Garcia – before Brody King would look for a Stage Dive. Omega would stop King in his tracks – but was unable to take him off the top rope. Jericho & Omega would work together to take King down – a Double Superplex doing the job.
The House Always Wins – Hangman Page Finds Some Unexpected Backup
In the back, we’d see Blackpool Combat Club brawling with Hangman Page & Dark Order, as Omega blocked a Lionsault by getting his knees up. Matt Jackson would hit the Locomotion Northern Lights Suplexes on Garcia, with Guevara joining in on the final suplex. Codebreaker took Nick down, before Garica hit the Uranage and Guevara the Shooting Star Press.
King broke the pinfall up, and would drag Matt to the corner for a tag. Guevara & Garcia were helpless against King, with Jericho being dropped with Dante’s Inferno – with Omega saving Jericho from the pinfall loss. Jericho armed himself with his bat, and nailed King in the jaw. The Elite were taken out by Guevara, but King was able to kick out on his own power.
Black would hit the Black Mass to send Jericho from the ring, Garcia would take Dantes Inferno – and this match was done just like that. The House Always Wins, and that’s certainly the case tonight.
After the match, the brawl between Blackpool Combat Club & Dark Order hit the ring – with The Elite backing up former member Hangman Page as the show fades to black.
