Recently in AEW, we would see some major developments for The Firm. Originally formed to help MJF during a planned feud with AEW World Champion CM Punk, things would quickly have to change for this group.
Ethan Page & Stokely Hathaway would keep fans interested, and adding Matt Hardy & Private Party to the group gave them a storyline. However, this ill fated faction would suffer a major blow when Hardy would betray the group as soon as Jeff Hardy was able to return. Now, The Firm is ready to be deleted.
Matt Hardy Feels The Firms Days Are Numbered, Hopes To Win Gold With Jeff Hardy
During a Q&A episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy would peel back the curtain with this current storyline. He expects The Firm Deletion to mark the end of the faction, but the start of The Hardy Party.
“We already have an idea of a way to take the current story once it ends with The Firm,” he said. “I think it’s going to make a lot of people that have enjoyed our story through and through happy. We’re calling this match The Firm Deletion. I think it really is going to be the deletion of The Firm when it’s all said and done.
There are a couple of ideas; obviously, Jeff is back, so we’re going to be delving into the tag team scene and we’re going to be looking to try and find our way back up the mountain to get another shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles, and we do have a couple of ideas about directions that we could go out of that. There’s going to be a little twist, I think, where the Hardy Party he’s going to be evolving and changing a little bit.
I think it’s going to be a small handful of guys that are still going to be associated with myself and Jeff. Maybe the Hardy Party is our faction’s name.”
A faction of Private Party & The Hardy Boyz will be interesting to see. Jeff Hardy’s return has been positively received, with Matt Hardy asking fans to allow Jeff a chance to make them believe in him once again.
