Will Ospreay Talks 2024 Free Agency, Hopes To Work Out New Deal With NJPW

2024 is already shaping up to be a massive year in professional wrestling. It could well see some major names from All Elite Wrestling leave the company, with the likes of MJF & Kenny Omega set to see their contracts come to an end.

Meanwhile in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Will Ospreay is in a similar position. His latest deal is set to end next year – and is keeping his options open.

Will Ospreay Keeps Options Open Ahead Of 2024 Contract Negotiations

While speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion about the end of his contract with NJPW – Ospreay would have the following today, keeping his options open.

“I just wanna know what my options are, doesn’t mean I’m leaving NJPW. I’m fairly positive me & NJPW will work out a deal but in case we don’t I want to provide for my family, wrestle how I wanna wrestle & most importantly be happy”

Considering NJPW has positioned Ospreay as a consistent main event star, it’s likely that a deal will be made. However, with the current landscape of professional wrestling – anyone would be a fool to not look at all possible options. WWE is entering a new era with the Endeavor merger incoming, while AEW remains on the rise.

If Ospreay sticks with NJPW, a joint contract with AEW is possible – similar to the deal AEW made with DDT in regards to Konosuke Takeshita.

NJPW & AEW have a very good working relationship, with the second Forbidden Door event set to take place later this year. It’s also expected that All In will feature names from NJPW – with Ospreay hoping to get a spot on the card for Wembley Stadium.

War With Kenny Omega Is Far From Over

Recently, Ospreay would make it clear he’s not finished with Kenny Omega following a loss at Wrestle Kingdom 17.

After posting a picture of himself with his newly won 1PW Championship, Don Callis would respond with a picture of Omega after defeating Ospreay for the IWGP United States Championship. Ospreay would respond by saying “War ain’t over dickhead”. Callis would have the following response.

“Really? You know we think you are amazing but we beat you clean and you got dominated physically by Kenny Omega at the Dome. I am glad you are recovering from the injuries sustained there but from my perspective we are moving on to new challenges. Be well Bruv”

Even with Omega having not been in Japan since January, this feud remains strong – and is ready to be instantly reheated for a rematch.

Wembley Stadium might be the perfect stage – unless Ospreay earns a title shot against Omega for NJPW Domininon in July. Ospreay was entered into a four man tournament to earn a title shot, and would need to defeat Hiroshi Tanahahsi & Lance Archer to earn the spot.

When will we see Omega vs. Ospreay II? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
