WWE WrestleMania 36 rolls on with Daniel Bryan challenging Sami Zayn for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
WWE Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
Sami runs from Bryan immediately, fleeing from the ring and using every last bit of the ten count to avoid Bryan. Bryan gets fed up with this on the second try and pursues him, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura keep getting in the way. Sami rolls into the ring and just waits for Bryan to follow him, dancing cockily. Bryan slides into the ring and advances, Sami rolls out of the ring, Bryan nearly gets him but Cesaro and Nakamura both block the way now. Drew Gulak runs across the apron for a crossbody to take out both men! Back body drops Cesaro over the barrier, Nakamura charges but he stops him with a knee to the gut, takes him over the barrier too. He’s about to attack Sami but Bryan tells him to let him go. Gets the ref to keep counting. Sami Zayn decides to just leave, but Bryan chases him up the ramp, tackles him and throws him into the ring! Sami is begging off as Bryan re-enters the ring. Zayn tells him to join them but Daniel trips him down, pounds him right in the face with driving punches, knee drops to the gut!
Sami wants to escape, Daniel pulls him back to the center. Kick to the hamstring, another to the back! Sami bails, but Bryan obliterates him with a suicide dive! High kick, throws him back into the ring! Up top! Missile Dropkick nailed, kip-up! Pulls Zayn to the center of the ring, STF cinched in, hooks the nose, crossface blows! Stiff shots here. Pulls Sami up, throws him into the corner, wicked slap across the face! And another! High kicks to the chest! Charging dropkick right to the face, Zayn staggers to the mat! Holds onto the ankles as he keeps begging of. Sami is in tears as he keeps asking him to stop, Bryan with knees to the face. Sami wants to escape again, cheap shot back elbow. Driving punches, irish whip, big lariat! Sami selling like he’s in immense pain still.
Tells Daniel he made a mistake as he punches him in the face. Bryan no sells chops, making his way up. Sami with some forearms, Irish Whip, Bryan ducks a clothesline, flying clothesline nailed! Yes Kicks laid in hard! A vicious one to the head finishing it off! Grabs the wrists, here’s the brutal stomps to the head! Gulak starts the Yes Chant until Cesaro and Nakamura attack him from behind and send him right into the steps, Bryan surprises them with a suicide dive! Goes up top, leaps at Sami but he nails him with a Helluva Kick out of the air! Covers and gets the upset win!
Winner: Sami Zayn
Well I don’t think anyone expected that. To be fair you would wanna save something like this for a crowd, but they already went ahead and let Daniel beat the hell out of Sami after months of nobody being able to touch him so iunno, seemed like you might as well go all the way with it if that was gonna happen anyway. Not that I mind Sami keeping the title though.
