Since the start of AEW, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D has been one of the spotlight stars in their women’s division. Already a former AEW Women’s World Champion, Baker is arguably more known for her willingness to get violent in matches.
More than once, Baker has donned the crimson mask for the fans of AEW – to the point where she’s earned the approval of hardcore legend Mick Foley. However, while Baker might excel in hardcore matches – she doesn’t think they’re fun.
“If It’s A Good Match, It’s A Good Match”
During an interview with Simon Miller of WhatCulture, Britt Baker would be asked about her thoughts on hardcore matches. The former champion would have the following to say about the criticisms thrown at AEW for having bloody matches in the women’s division.
“I think at the end of the day, people like what they like, and they hate what they hate, but you can’t put women in a box and not let them break out of it. If you like hardcore matches, then you should like hardcore matches. It shouldn’t matter who’s in the ring. If it’s a good match, it’s a good match, no matter who’s on either side of the ring. That’s kind of what I feel about it.”
Britt Baker Wouldn’t Take Back Anything She’s Done In AEW
When asked if she enjoys hardcore matches, Baker would provide the following response.
“It’s definitely not fun. It hurts. For a long time, too, it does hurt. But I wouldn’t take back anything that I’ve done. I’m proud of it. I’m proud of what it did for AEW, for myself, and for women’s wrestling.”
Given the feud between Britt Baker & The Outcasts, many expect her to enter a hardcore match against Saraya at All In later this summer.
Baker & Saraya have one prior singles meeting, which was the in-ring return of Saraya at Full Gear 2022. Saraya got the win that night, but their issues have only intensified since 2022.
