For several months now, Juice Robinson has been a thorn in the side of Ricky Starks. What started as a one on one feud has evolved into Bullet Club Gold vs. Starks – but tonight, Starks has a chance to get his hands on Robinson in a singles match with Bullet Club banned from ringside.
It’s a match in the Owen Hart Memorial Cup – with the winner going on to face Powerhouse Hobbs. Winning this tournament is a potentially career changing moment for both men, and having won the 2022 World Championship Eliminator tournament, Starks knows a thing or two about what it takes to win a tournament.
Jay White Makes It Official – The Gunns Are In Bullet Club Gold
Jay White would officially announce that The Gunns are now part of Bullet Club Gold. The Golden Gunns were key to victory last week, and White is excited to have them.
When it came to why The Gunns wanted to join Bullet Club Gold – it’s very simple. White is a Grand Slam Champion, and Robinson is Rock hard. Why did White & Robinson want The Gunns?
They made their tag team debut 16 months ago, are already former AEW World Tag Team Champions. The Gunns have defeated some of the best in AEW, including The Acclaimed, The Hardys, FTR, and even CM Punk. If you’re not down with that – they have two words for ya. Not suck it, but Gunns up.
White would address CM Punk and just what he brought back to AEW in a bag. If it’s the AEW World Championship he won at All Out 2022 – he should leave it in there, so White doesn’t take it away. However, he’s got eyes on the AEW World Tag Team Championships held by FTR. That is, if they’re man enough to accept their challenge.
Ricky Starks Gets Juice Robinson Alone For A Tournament Match
Starks would be excited to get one on one with Robinson, who was worried to even step into the ring with Starks. The bell would ring, and Robinson would loudly talk about his tournament experience, having won the World Tag League in NJPW with current Bullet Club leader David Finlay – who doesn’t recognize Bullet Club Gold. Starks would take Robinson to the mat with a headlock takeover, but couldn’t keep him down.
Robinson would trip up a running Starks, who hit the middle rope face first. Starks would be mounted and punched, before Robinson would target the leg with a series of elbow drops. Robinson would lift Starks off the mat and hit a scoop slam into the ropes, with the knee hitting the ropes.
Seeing how effective this was, Robinson did it again – before letting Stark pull himself up using the ropes before kicking him in the back of the leg. Rear chinlock would be applied, but Starks was able to fight free. He’d find himself corner with a series of strikes, but was able to fight to the middle of the ring.
Ready To Face His Former Tag Team Partner
Determined to stay in this match, Starks would absorb a few lariats before hitting the back body drop. Robinson was thrown off the ropes, and Starks came back with some running lariats before the big tornado DDT was countered.
Starks would redouble his efforts, hitting the DDT on the second attempt. Draping DDT would be blocked, and Starks was thrown throat first into the top rope before the jumping leg lariat.
Texas Cloverleaf would be applied, a signature move of Robinsons partner Toni Storm. Starks would be isolated in the middle of the ring, but was able to complete the long crawl to the bottom rope without taping out. Robinson would get a roll up and used the tights for extra leverage – and argued with the referee afterwards.
Starks would take advantage with a big scoop slam, but as he tried for Roshambo – Robinson would drive him into the corner. Robinson would hit a spear, but Starks was able to kick out.
Starks came back with a spear of his own, but Robinson countered Roshambo into a roll up. Reversing the hold, Starks would earn the pinfall – ending this match.
After the bell, Bullet Club Gold would try to surround Starks – but FTR & CM Punk would make the save. Can Starks defeat Hobbs and make the finals? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
