Britt Baker is in a hard spot right now in AEW. Her best friend Jamie Hayter is injured and no longer the AEW Women’s World Champion.
She was unable to win back to back Owen Hart Memorial Tournaments due to the interference of The Outcasts. A series of big losses is nothing Baker hasn’t bounced back from however, and tonight – she gets back in the ring with her eyes on a win.
Britt Baker Gets A Much Needed Victory
Facing Kayla Sparks, Baker would grab a rear waist lock but took a back elbow. Baker would respond with a quick Slingblade before doing the D.M.D taunt and getting her Lockjaw Glove on. An underhook suplex, a swinging neckbreaker and the Lockjaw would follow, and this one was over as fast as it started.
Baker is hoping to find herself in a big spot with All Out & All In incoming later this summer. Her issues with The Outcasts are far from done, and it might be just a matter of finding allies in the locker room to even the numbers up.
MJF & Adam Cole Have New Gear And Music For The Finals Of The Tournament
MJF & Adam Cole have become fast friends since being drawn as partners for the Blind Draw Tag Team Eliminator Tournament. Initially resistant to the team after going half an hour in a match on Dynamite, MJF & Cole now find themselves liking each other and wrestling in the finals.
It was a stroke of luck when two members of the Jericho Appreciation Society were chosen as a team, and while Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia aren’t close friends – their skills have placed them in the finals. Whoever wins gets a shot at FTR – making this a huge match.
With matching trunks, jackets and a mash up theme song – MJF & Cole were flying high as a tag team and more popular than ever before. Garcia would dance in the ring, and MJF called for a dance off.
MJF would walk over the timekeepers table and hit the dance mode button, with music and lights following. Garcia & Guevara waited for an opening and attacked Cole & MJF, with Garcia starting the match with Cole.
MJF would get some punches in before calling for the Double Clothesline, but Guevara would save Garcia. They’d rest on the outside as MJF built up speed on the ropes, but didn’t dive – instead posing in the middle of the ring. Garcia took advantage, hitting MJF in the back of the head with an elbow smash.
MJF would be locked into a front headlock, with the ring cut in half as Garcia & Guevara would take turns beating down MJF. Guevara would take a big shoulder tackle, butting heads with MJF who tell onto the crotch of Guevara for an unintentional low blow. Garcia & Guevara tried for the Double Clothesline, but MJF ducked and got the tag.
The Double Clothesline Wins The Day
Cole would cut down Guevara & Garcia with kicks and knee strikes, even catching Guevara out of the sky. MJF got the tag and tried for the Double Clothesline with Cole, but instead took a Double Spanish Fly. Garcia would lock in the Dragon Slayer on Cole, but was unable to hold the submission in.
Cole would send Guevara & Garcia to then floor, and convinced MJF to hit the dive. He’d soar with a suicide dive before Cole hit the Panama Sunrise.
The Double Clothesline would land – and MJF & Cole are going to face the AEW World Tag Team Champions on July 29th. After the bell, Cole would grab the World Championship to pass it to MJF, but his eyes lingered on the belt as MJF had his back turned.
MJF has a chance to become double champion now – but can they beat FTR? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
