FTR were able to push past Aussie Open at AEW WrestleDream – and remain the AEW World Tag Team Champions. However, after Ricky Starks would pin Dax Harwood on a recent episode of AEW Collision – he would stake claim to a tag team championship match.
Tonight with Big Bill at his side, Starks looks to become a tag team champion – all he needs to do is beat the best tag team in the world today.
Ricky Starks & Big Bill Bring The Fall Of FTR By Running Through The Champions
Coming into this match, FTR are far from 100% – with Cash Wheeler having issues with his ribs after the match at WrestleDream with Aussie Open.
However, it’s Saturday Night – and they never turn down a fight. Starks meanwhile is coming in after back to back wins, pinning Harwood on Collision and beating Wheeler Yuta at WrestleDream.
Starks would start fast, sending Harwood’s hurt shoulder into the ring post twice before a swinging DDT for a two count. Wheeler was sent off to the floor and crashed hard on his ribs.
Harwood would hit a series of chops to Starks, before being dropped with one huge strike from Bill. The announce desk would be cleared, and Bill would chokeslam Wheeler through it moments later.
Harwood would be driven back into the ring – and was now effectively in a handicap match. He would fight back with some stiff strikes, before dodging Bill in the corner – causing him to hit his head off the ring post.
The Sharpshooter couldn’t be applied, and Bill would hit the running Big Boot before a chokeslam in the middle of the ring.
Starks would call for another chokeslam, and Bill would oblige. He’d try for the pinfall again, but Bill wanted one more chokeslam. Starks would want to ensure the message was sent, and called for just one more. However, it would be the chokeslam-spear combo – and we have new AEW World Tag Team Champions.
Bryan Danielson Has Been Wrestling Longer Than Kyle Fletcher Has Been Alive
Bryan Danielson is just a few days removed from a technical wrestling masterclass against Zack Sabre Jr – and tonight, is preparing for a #1 contenders match against Swerve Strickland. However, Danielson would be a fool to overlook his match tonight against Kyle Fletcher.
One half of Aussie Open, Fletcher has come close to becoming a singles and tag team champion in AEW – and could slay The American Dragon tonight. With Mark Davis injured – Fletcher needs to fly alone – and what bigger way to do that.
Danielson would be showing damage to his right arm – having potentially injured it during his match against ZSJ. Looking to end things earlier with a kneebar, Danielson would be blocked by Fletcher – before being kicked in the spine.
Fletcher would again almost land in the kneebar – but grabbed the bottom rope. Danielson would hit a knee to the midsection, before a kick to the spine of Fletcher.
Romero Special would be applied, Danielson showing expert skill with the hold before simply pummelling Fletcher with a series of elbow smashes.
A kick to the neck of Fletcher would follow, before he was able to hit a dropkick to send Danielson to the floor. Showing why he’s known as The Aussie Arrow – Fletcher would go for the Suicide Dive, but crashed and burned as he was directed into the guard rail.
Using What Was Learned From Zack Sabre Jr.
Back in the ring, Fletcher would manage to regain control, attacking Danielson with a series of chops. A series of arm trapped bodyslams would follow, but Danielson would counter one and hit the running elbow smash to get free. Fletcher would take the Buzzsaw Kick, before a series of chops and kicks in the corner.
Fletcher was sent back to the middle of the ring with a Frankensteiner, before the Running Dropkicks would land. Danielson took a running roundhouse kick and brainbuster for a near fall – but was unable to get the three count.
Danielson would be beaten into the corner with a series of stiff strikes, and the second he tasted some freedom – was rocked with a superkick.
Fletcher limp, and Danielson would notice a potential injury to the right leg of his opponent – and would quickly apply an ankle lock in the middle of the ring.
Refusing to tap out, Fletcher fought to his feet and was dumped on his head with a German Suplex. Fletcher would fire back with a Dragon Suplex – and both men collapsed to the mat.
Danielson would run into a Michinoku Driver – before Fletcher applied a Dragon Sleeper. Fletcher would be unable to keep Danielson from the bottom rope – but hit a Reverse Superplex and the Dragon Sleeper was applied again. Danielson would counter into the European Clutch – to score the pinfall victory.
After the bell, Danielson would be attacked by Gates of Agony – but Blackpool Combat Club made the save. Can Danielson defeat Swerve Strickland? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
