Right now, Jay White is parading around as with the AEW World Heavyweight Championship – having stolen the belt from MJF.
His reign will not be even close to legitimate until Full Gear when he goes one on one with the champion. However tonight, White faces an old rival in Hangman Page – and having a perfect record against Page gives White every right to be confident coming into this match.
Jay White Is Acting Like The AEW World Heavyweight Champion
Page would be confronted by White saying he’ll never hold the World Championship again, before being slapped across the face. White would flee from the ring to speak with Bullet Club Gold at ringside – before getting into the ring. Page was slapped again, and White would flee the ring – only to take a Vaulting Body Press from Page moments later.
White would be dropped with a stiff chop to the chest, and BCG could just watch – as getting involved would lead to White losing the match by DQ.
Page would keep the chops coming in the ring, with White briefly breaking free before taking a Cowboy Boot to the jaw. Page would hit another big boot, knowing his physicality is the key to breaking someone as clever as Switchblade down.
A quick dodge in the corner would allow White to hit an elbow to the back of the neck before a tight DDT on Page. Yanking him to his feet by his hair, White would get Page into the corner before some Switchblade Chops.
Rear Chinlock would be applied in the ring, and when Page broke free – a Dragon Screw Leg Whip would land before White took some time to mock Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Page would fire back with a Death Valley Driver, but the damage to knee would prevent a pinfall. Fallaway Slam would land, and Page was able to follow up with the Running Shooting Star press for a near fall.
White would flee the ring, and would avoid a Vaulting Body Press – only to be powerbombed right onto the ring apron.
Switchblade Remains Undefeated Against Hangman Page
Another Pop Up Powerbomb would land in the ring, getting Page a near fall. Deadeye would be countered, and Page would be thrown into the turnbuckle with a Front Chancery.
A kneebreaker on the apron would follow, and White would keep the pressure on the injured limb with a Grounded Dragon Screw before applying the Inverted Figure Four Leg Lock.
Page would get the bottom rope to get free, before catching White on the top rope and dropping him with a headbutt before the Moonsault Slam.
Again, the knee made it impossible for him to move into a pinfall, landing on it on the impact of the slam. White would hit the Uranage for a near fall, and was closing in on the victory.
Sleeper Hold would be applied, but the Sleeper Suplex wouldn’t land. Page slipped free and hit the Rolling Elbow, but the Buckshot Lariat was blocked as White hit another Dragon Screw Leg Whip. An Avalanche Uranage was set, but Page fought free to drop White. Page would risk it all with a moonsault, and it landed.
White would be in position again for the Buckshot Lariat – but would lure Page back into the ring, hitting a Flatliner and German Suplex. A chopblock set up the Sleeper Suplex, and Page back back hard with a lariat.
The Buckshot was nearly blocked with the Bladerunner, but Page would break free and hit Deadeye. Prince Nana would rush to ringside – and caused a distraction, allowing White to roll up Page for the victory.
The music of the real AEW World Heavyweight Champion would hit – and MJF hit the stage with microphone in hand. MJF was fired up – and would say that White got what he wanted, the main event spot at Full Gear. Now, he just needs to give MJF back his property – he needs to be a man and do what is right.
Despite just going 18 minutes with Page, White was ready to match wits with MJF – and would refuse to give the belt back. MJF was once like White, a man who didn’t care about anyone else.
He will use people, abuse people, and doesn’t care about anyone in the ring with him – simply using them to get him to the Pinnacle of AEW.
However unlike White, MJF is trying to be someone that the fans can respect. There are two things that MJF cares about, those being Adam Cole and the AEW World Heavyweight Champion
. White calls it a belt, but MJF calls it his legacy – that belt means everything to him. If it wasn’t four on one, MJF would have already taken the belt back and broken White’s neck.
One day, White might join the ranks of the AEW World Heavyweight Champions, and for now – must finally show respect and give back what he has not yet earned.
White would decline the offer to hand the belt back, and MJF needs to earn it back at Full Gear. He needs to be patient and win the belt back – unless he wants to battle all of Bullet Club Gold.
