WWE Money In The Bank 2020 continues. We have the WWE Championship match up next, Seth Rollins challenging Drew McIntyre. Rollins has a new, holier-than-thou sounding entrance theme. I was kinda thinking it needed changing considering it had the BURN IT DOWN singalong still, and it always worked even after the turn, back when we had crowds anyway. Sadly, Drew McIntyre isn’t changing his theme anytime soon it seems.
WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Seth Rollins
Lock-up, Drew takes him into the corner and there’s the break. Another lock-up, Seth whisks behind Drew, into a side headlock. McIntyre trying to hoist him up for a back suplex but Seth blocks, keeps the hold in. McIntyre shoots him off though and a shoulder block forces Seth to take a breather. Back into the ring, trying to grapple for position, Seth forces him into an arm wringer. Hammerlock in for a moment but McIntyre spins out of it, there’s another series of shoulder blocks and a clothesline takes Seth to the floor! McIntyre tells him to go ahead and take his time, he’s enjoying every second of this.
Seth back into the ring, another lock-up, takes Drew into the corner, no clean break as he tries some chops, Drew fights back and whips him to the corner, Seth wants a floatover but McIntyre avoids him, chop to the chest! Power whip to the corner, Seth with the HBK sell and another knife edge chop sends him to his back! Deadlift Vertical Suplex, hoisting him right from the mat! Cover for 1. McIntyre wants a body slam but Seth escapes it, low dropkick clips the knee! Seth throws McIntyre into the post and he collapses to the floor. Seth hits the ropes and flies into him with a suicide dive! Throws him into the ring. Trying to grab the leg, Drew kicks him away, Seth rebounds with a Slingblade for a 1 count! Haven’t seen a 2 yet.
Seth with a Single Leg Boston Crab now! Drew starting to crawl to the ropes, Seth transitions into an STF, and then a Crossface to single out an arm! But even still, McIntyre manages to grab the rope for the break! Drew fights his way to his feet, Seth hits the ropes, Crossbody Tope! Seth standing on the apron waiting for Drew to rise. Flying Knee to the side of the head! Rollins resets the count. Seth goes into the crowd area, another flying knee, this one off the barrier landing flush! Seth takes the cover off the announce table. Stands atop it and there’s a Flying Knee from there as well! Rollins trying for the count out now. McIntyre is up at six, so Seth hits the ropes for another dive but McIntyre catches him and tosses him atop the announce table with an Overhead Belly To Belly! Seth is howling in pain, has a nasty red mark on his back now.
Seth scrambles back into the ring, gets driven quickly into the corner, more Overhead Belly to Bellies and a big boot to the face! McIntyre getting that left knee set, goes up top, flies off for a clothesline and a kip-up, even as he’s limping! Drew setting up for the Claymore but Seth evades to the apron, snaps the arm over the rope, looking for a Springboard Flying Knee but Drew counters out of the air with a Spinebuster, into a Jacknife Cover for a nearfall! Drew wants a Future Shock DDT but Seth escapes it and kicks the bad leg! Enziguri to the head, Avada Kedavra lays him out for a near- nope, it’s a 1 count!!
Rollins up top and there’s the Frog Splash, Drew powering out at 1 yet again!! Seth leaves the ring and picks up a steel chair! Seth is taking the chair into the ring very slowly. But at the last second he decides against it and tosses it away, tries for the Stomp but Drew catches him! Glasgow Kiss! Drew goes up top but Rollins crotches him! Seth hooks him for a superplex but Drew sends him to the mat. McIntyre up top now! But Seth hops up there, Superplex nailed and he rolls through into the Falcon Arrow! That’s incredible on a guy McIntyre’s size, and it finally earns him a nearfall! Seth tries a Stomp but McIntyre avoids it, counters beautifully into a Future Shock DDT for a clooose nearfall! McIntyre gets Seth up top. Knife edge chop to the chest!
Drew pursues him up there, punch to the face. Seth crotches him again though and sets him up in the Tree of Woe! Seth standing on the knee to work it over! BUT MCINTYRE POWERS HIS WAY UP WITH HIS LEGS AND HITS A SPIDER GERMAN! ROLLINS FLIPS ONTO HIS FACE! McIntyre looking for the Claymore but Seth stops it with a Superkick! Rollins nails the Stomp! NEARFALL! Seth starts talking about what a great man Drew is but he’s about to end up. Seth wants the Stomp but Drew bounces him off his head, Glasgow Kiss! Rollins hits a Superkick but Drew responds with a Claymore and that’s that!
Winner: Drew McIntyre
That was awesome. For two people to have a lengthy match of that caliber with no crowd is just remarkable. Afterwards, McIntyre offers Seth a hand. Tells him to show the world he’s a leader. Seth actually accepts the handshake and McIntyre leaves. Interesting.
