We’ve got a special match coming up on the Buy-In Pre-Show, when the team of Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen, Private Party go up against Chuck Taylor and Trent of the Best Friends for a future AEW World Tag Team Championship opportunity! You can expect the same live coverage of the event as always, plus a preview of every match on the card! There’s plenty to talk about so let’s get underway!
Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) vs. The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent) (Winning team becomes the No. 1 Contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championships)
It really seems like the Best Friends have been featured more prominently than ever these past few months. They were seemingly the only full tag team available for a while there, and thusly had plenty of dealings with Kenny Omega. In fact they actually beat Kenny Omega in a tag team match where Michael Nakazawa was filling in for Hangman Page. While it was non-title, it was a pretty important one regardless because the Best Friends tag team name was on the line! Considering they got that victory, they should probably already be in line for a genuine title match now that Hangman Page is back in action.
But first, they’ll be taking on Private Party. Quen and Kassidy are an exciting duo and I do expect them to be a major force in the tag scene eventually. Thus far though it’s felt like it’s a bit too early for them to be a top tandem, they’re still a little green and it’s noticeable at times. They’re not guys you want putting a match together, they get lost out there sometimes. But against a veteran team like the Best Friends I’m sure we’ll get a really good match tonight. When they’re at their best, Private Party are a treat to watch for sure.
We haven’t seen a tag title defense since the classic against the Young Bucks at Revolution and that’s really quite a shame, so it’s nice to know we’ll be rectifying that soon enough. As the preview thus far has probably let on, I fully expect Trent and Chuckie T to be getting that shot. Best Friends over. They’ve already been built pretty well for the title match, tonight we take that last step.
