WWE Friday Night SmackDown continues. We now have our impromptu match as Sasha Banks goes up against Alexa Bliss.
Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss
Sasha takes control quickly, she’s got basic white tennis shoes on here. She quickly brags to her buddy Bayley on commentary. This of course lets Alexa take over, takes her down, Insult To Injury nailed for a nearfall. Sasha fights back, takes her to the corner, Double Kneedrop takes her off the second rope! Keeps the heat on, Meteora nailed for a nearfall! Sasha has Alexa down with an arm stretch as Nikki Cross is losing her mind cheering on Alexa, standing atop the announce table. Sasha with a pendulum backbreaker for a 2 count! Nikki Cross is, incidentally, maybe the first person I’ve ever seen on WWE TV stick up for Michael Cole as she vows to protect him when Bayley threatens to punch him.
Alexa fights her way to her feet, Sasha tries a headscissor out of the corner but she blocks this and turns it into a Facebuster! We now have dueling Sasha/Lexi chants as the commentators facepalm. Alexa and Sasha trade punches, Bliss wins out and hits a dropkick that takes her into the corner! She charges but Sasha gets the floatover and drives her face-first into the turnbuckle! Meteora nailed, right to the back of the head! Springs off the ropes for a twisting double knee drop for a nearfall! Bliss with a Victory Roll for 2, spinning headscissor, and then a big heymaker! Alexa going up top for the Twisted Bliss, Bayley rushes to the apron to call her a chicken I guess. Nikki up there to fight with her, Bayley shoves Nikki into the Bliss to send her to the mat, Sasha with a charging knee to the head! Rolls her into a pinning combination and that’s the end.
Winner: Sasha Banks
All things considered, I’m actually a little surprised that Sasha won that. Kinda seems like the idea would’ve been that Bayley gets her friend into trouble again and it costs her, maybe something even related to her impromptu ring gear. But nah she gets the win and I’m guessing this may actually lead to Sasha and Bayley challenging for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. I suppose it would be fitting for them to get one last big tag match together in before they break up.
