Another episode of AEW Dynamite is on tap for this evening! This tag division focused episode includes what is essentially a Semi-Final situation for the big tag title match at Fyter Fest. Both the champions and the challengers are putting their spots on the line in the same night! The golden half of that equation sees Hangman Page & Kenny Omega defend the titles against the Natural Nightmares, Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall! You can expect the same coverage of tonight’s show as always and since I’m getting to it early enough this go ’round, that includes previews of all the biggest matches! Let’s get to it!
AEW World Tag Team Championships: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page (c) vs. The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall)
The Natural Nightmares make up one of the more odd on-going storylines. For whatever reason, Allie aka the Bunny, who was known as the manager of the Butcher and the Blade has gone out of her way to court one QT Marshall. QT, not exactly the biggest ladies’ man out there, quickly fell head over heels for her advances, much to the chagrin of Dustin Rhodes and their manager Brandi Rhodes, who for obvious reasons struggle to trust her. It doesn’t help that Allie outright ducks every question pertaining to her ‘former’ clients and the Butcher and the Blade are mum on the matter as well. There’s no real reason to believe they actually split at all and I imagine this ruse will be revealed eventually. Until then though we can only ponder as to why they’re doing this.
Funnily though, in spite of Allie’s wily ways, the Nightmares have done very well for themselves, amassing a winning streak and rising up the tag ranks surprisingly fast, to the point where now they’re actually getting a tag title shot. And it makes for an interesting match because Dustin and QT, as the brother and right-hand-man of Cody Rhodes respectively, might not be considered part of the Elite exactly but could certainly be called Elite Adjacent. It’s the first time they’ve faced off with either of the two big mainstays on the opposite side, making for a unique combination.
Of course, they’re not going to win. But they should certainly raise their stock as a tag team in this one. Page and Omega to retain.
