The undercard for Sengoku Lord saw narratives for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) Summer Struggle tour come into the forefront. The fourth match especially allowed for several stories to add another chapter to ongoing feuds ahead of the more prominent programs featured on the event.
The Suzuki-Gun team of former IWGP Intercontinental Champion Minoru Suzuki, IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi), Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Douki against former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi, former IWGP Intercontinental Champion Kota Ibushi, former two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yuji Nagata, former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion/four-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroyoshi Tenzan, and Master Wato.
Nagata and Suzuki would continue their focus on one another after their first-round New Japan Cup classic from several weeks ago. Dangerous Tekkers continues to square off against Tanahashi and Ibushi, as it looks like the Golden Ace team may have a rematch shortly for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship they lost at Dominion.
Eventually, Ibushi would defeat Douki at the 12 minute and 55-second mark with the Kamigoye.
The third match of Sengoku Lord saw CHAOS members Hirooki Goto, Yoshi-Hashi, and current one-half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Sho take on Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) Tetsuya Naito, Sanada, and Bushi.
In a fast-paced match, the LIJ team was able to use their advanced teamwork to keep an advantage over CHAOS. Sanada would submit Sho at the 10 minute and 31-second mark to continue him on his path to eventually meet Evil down the line.
The second match saw the team of Togi Makabe, Satoshi Kojima, and Ryusuke Taguchi defeat Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, and NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion Gabriel Kidd when Makabe pinned Kidd with a German Suplex at the 10 minute and 25-second mark.
The opening match saw Taiji Ishimori defeat NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion in 8 minutes and 2 seconds with the Yes Lock before he would make a challenge for an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship opportunity later in the night.
