Isiah Kassidy is a tag team wrestler, through and through. He has rarely stepped into the ring without backup, but that didn’t stop him from standing up to none other than Chris Jericho, after a cowardly attack on his mentor, Matt Hardy. You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take, and Kassidy is taking a huge one by challenging Jericho. Will a star be born?
Isiah Kassidy Starts Strong
This was a known mismatch, but Jericho was taking Kassidy lightly. Jericho would push him into the corner and turn his back on him, and Kassidy just attacked from behind and turned this into a fight. He needs to win early because Jericho is shocked, and he’d hit as many moves as he could before going for a rollup and getting a two count. Kassidy was very close to winning, but Jericho dropped him with ease.
Jericho would throw some heavy forearms, but Kassidy would catch a dropkick and catapult him over the ropes into The Inner Circle and went for a baseball slide. This would miss, but Jericho would be quickly sent over the barricade into Luther, who’d clothesline him right back into the ringside area. Can’t trust your old friends!
Kassidy would hit a dive over the top, send Jericho into position and hit the Senton Bomb for a near fall. This might have been his best chance at winning, but it didn’t work. He’d then get flapjacked by Jericho, as we went into a commercial break, and throughout said break, Jericho would pummel his opponent.
Chris Jericho Shows Mercy
Coming back from the break, it’s clear that Kassidy has lost any control in this match. He’d make some feeble attempts to come back, but Jericho or The Inner Circle would shut him down. Jericho would have his running bulldog countered, giving Kassidy his last big opening in this match, hitting a flipping stunner for a near fall, and throw elbows at Jericho.
Kassidy would be dropped with a single throat chop, Jericho went for a lionsault and got countered, with Kassidy going for one of his own. He’d follow it up with a Codebreaker, getting another near fall. Kassidy would then springboard into a Judas Effect, and this one was over and a brawl broke out. Matt Hardy cleared Inner Circle out with a steel chair, and this one isn’t over.
