AEW Rewind Results: Brandon Cutler vs. MJF [AEW Dynamite #1]

At this point in AEW history, MJF was somehow still a fan favorite and on the face side of things, despite clearly being a natural heel. He was the best friend of Cody Rhodes, and clearly being groomed as one of the future mega stars of AEW. Of course he’d be around for the first episode of AEW Dynamite, and his opponent would be the good friend of The Young Bucks, Brandon Cutler. MJF Rips Into Brandon Cutler In More Ways Than One As MJF made his way to the ring, he’d ask for his music to be cut. He’d remind fans they’re looking at the fastest rising and youngest star in the history of professional wrestling, only to be met with asshole chants. They’d get the rare chance to watch a star be born, as he faced Brandon Cutler, who got lost on his way to his seat. Cutler & MJF would lock up, and MJF would be incredibly cocky, only using one arm and shoving Cutler into the corner before tripping him. MJF would throw Cutler into the corner, only to have Cutler flip over him and slap him across the ear. He’d rush towards MJF and be sent onto the apron, only to come back in with a sunset flip for a two count. Cutler picked MJF up for a Death Valley Driver, but a rake to the eyes stopped this. MJF slipped to the outside, prompting Culter to go after him, only to have his arm stretched over the top rope, before sending him shoulder first into the ringpost. Cutler would be body slammed onto his arm, and one armbar would be able to end this, but MJF took his time and kept beating down Cutler. MJF would regret this, as he’d be sent to the outside and hit with a Magic Missle and have punches rained down on him. Cutler went up top after throwing MJF back in the ring, but lost his balance and slipped down. MJF would hit a hard elbow and lock in the Salt Of The Earth armbar, winning this match. Cutler never recovered from this loss, going winless for all of his AEW run to this point. Where Are They Now? MJF would go on to remain undefeated for nearly a year, until he faced Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship at All Out in 2020. Brandon Cutler is still looking to get his first win in AEW, feuding with another man who never got a win, Peter Avalon. They had me one on one during an episode of AEW Dark, but it ended in a double countout. Did you expect MJF to become the huge name he is today during this first episode? A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
