New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) North American branch, New Japan of America (NJoA) presented the continuation of the NJPW Showdown tour on November 6th.
The marquee of the Road to Showdown event saw the return to NJPW Strong of Rust Taylor and the NJPW debut of JR Kratos who has made a name for himself in independent promotion Pro Wrestling Revolution (PWR) in California. They took on the team of eight-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Rocky Romero and Jeff Cobb.
Kratos showed incredible power throughout the match as he was able to plow through Cobb at various points. Taylor showed disrespect to Romero on several occasions after their altercation during the summer.
Kratos would gain the fall over Romero at the 13 minutes and 20 seconds mark with his Game Over technique. During post-match comments, Cobb laid out a respectful challenge to Kratos, who he once traveled the California independent scene with.
The headline match saw Bullet Club member Chase Owens take on junior heavyweight Danny Limelight, who was the runner up in Lions Break Crown 2020.
Limelight was able to use his speed to trouble Owens at several points during the match, but the experience of Owens was a bit too much for Limelight.
Owens would win the fall at the 8 minutes and 25 seconds mark with his Package Piledriver technique.
The opening match saw “Mr. No Days Off” Fred Rosser take on the young and impressive Jordan Clearwater.
Both wrestlers have become regulars in NJoA and on the NJPW Strong program over recent months. While Rosser had the experience advantage, Clearwater didn’t back down from the challenge.
Clearwater gave Rosser a fight, but the combination of Rosser’s Gut Check technique and a rebound Diving Dropkick gave him the fall at the 5 minute and 29-second mark.
