Clark Connors During The November 27, 2020 NJPW Strong Episode During The Road To Detonation Tour via New Japan World

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) brings Super J Cup 2020 live to fans of the company on December 12th through its own New Japan World streaming service and FITE TV. The seemingly now annual New Japan of America (NJoA) single-elimination tournament has drawn a bit of buzz due to the collective field of wrestlers from within and outside the IWGP Conception (NJPW, Ring of Honor [ROH], Revolution Pro Wrestling [RevPro], and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre [CMLL]). While travel made it nearly impossible for a CMLL or RevPro representative, the field remains quite strong.

NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion and Lion’s Break Crown 2020 winner Clark Connors enters Super J Cup 2020 as a massive underdog, especially since he faces former Impact Wrestling X Division Champion Chris Bey in the opening round of the single night tournament, yet Connors will look to make a statement.

Through recent weeks on NJPW Strong, Connors has shown that his development is headed in the right direction. With his added ring experience to go along with his intensity and power combination, he will give Bey a fight if nothing else.

Thus far, LA Dojo students of former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, three-time NEVER Openweight Champion, and New Japan Cup 2017 winner “The Wrestler” Katsuyori Shibata have shown an undeniable intensity and confidence in the ring, similar to what Shibata was known for during his wrestling career.

Connors will have the strength edge over Chris Bey, as he does against most other Junior Heavyweight wrestlers he competes against; however, he lacks the same big match experience as his adversary. If Connors is to defeat Bey and have any hope of winning Super J Cup 2020, he will need to avoid mistakes while executing a gameplan to perfection.

How far can the Young Lion go on December 12th?
