Nick Aldis Plans To Stick With Billy Corgan And The NWA

When it comes to wrestlers who are synonymous with modern brands, you arguably can’t find anyone else who backs their brand like Nick Aldis. For the past 800 days, he has reigned as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. This is something he takes very seriously, and his defenses against the likes of James Storm, Flip Gordon, Marty Scurll, Ricky Morton and more show he’s here to stay. 25 defenses is nothing to sneeze at.

While the National Wrestling Alliance has taken some hits in this past year, after having the rug pulled out from underneath them thanks to COVID-19. Their plans for the 2020 Crockett Cup were cancelled, as was NWA Powerrr. They’ve lost names like Ricky Starks & Thunder Rosa. However Nick Aldis is seeing this thing through.

Billy Corgan Renewed Nick Aldis’s Contract

While on the Keeping It 100 with Konnan podcast for the Christmas episode, Aldis shared some information. Billy Corgan picked up the option to keep Aldis under contract.

‘Billy Corgan picked up my option with the NWA so…
Like I said, I had an option on my contract and Billy picked it up and like I said, I would not have opened up any discussions with anyone without talking to —
This is Keepin it 100, I just care about that paper. That’s it and Billy’s been very loyal to me and I to him and I truly believe in what we’re doing with the product and I wouldn’t walk away from it because we haven’t even scratched the surface of what we could accomplish.’

So while NWA might have lost some of their major players, the face of the company remains for now, the smartest move to make.

NWA Powerrr Is Coming Back In 2021

You remember earlier in this post when I mentioned NWA Powerrr was dead? This podcast episode changed that with more news. Throughout this year, NWA has been part of Prime Time Live, which helped them get content for NWA Shockwave. However, that’s not their product, and theirs is coming back.

‘The reality is that the Prime Time Live is not an NWA product. Powerrr, NWA Powerrr, that’s our flagship. Dude, that’s coming back in 2021.’

After the poor year the NWA has had, people are excited for them to bounce back next year. Will you be watching when NWA Powerrr returns? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
