Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Live Results!
I’m your host, CP Bialois, and it looks like we’re going to have a pretty fun night with a couple of good looking matches, rumors of call ups, and more!
Nothing like some possible unexpected action to get everyone’s attention, right?
We’ll be back for the 8 p.m. EST start time, so go ahead and grab some snacks and drinks and WWE Smackdown Live Results will see you back here.
Segment 1
Roman Reigns started off the night by calling Adam Pearce out and putting the blame of Kevin Owens’ being injured on him and then intimidated Pearce before he left the ring.
Segment 2
Intercontinental Championship Match – Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews
This started off fast with Crews in control. Crews hit a superplex and hooked Bug E’s leg, but it looked like he kept his shoulders on the mat to either lose and a double count.
We’ll find out what happened after commercial.
Segment 3
The match was ruled a draw, but Crews lost his cool and slapped Big E to force another match or continuation.
Big E accepted and eventually won with a Big ending.
Segment 4
Bianca Belair and Bayley had a fun exchange over meeting in the Royal Rumble. They’re going to be fun to watch.
Segment 5
Smackdown Tag Team Championship – The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) (c) vs. Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode)
This started off pretty even, but Ziggler and Roode quickly took advantage of Ford’s injured leg.
But Ford fought back and hit a somersault over the top rope to take out Roode and Ziggler on the floor. It appears he injured his knee as we headed to commercial.
Segment 6
This was a fun match that Roode and Ziggler won with a spinebuster-zigzag, but it really should’ve been over several falls earlier.
Ford was too indominable and we get the feeling it was more to build him up for a singles run than anything.
Segment 7
Number One Contender Gauntlet Match – Rey Mysterio vs. Sami Zayn
Rey Mysterio hit a double dropkick, 619, and a frogsplash Sami Zayn for a quick victory, then waited as Shinsuke Nakamura came to the ring as we headed to commercial.
Segment 8
Number One Contender Gauntlet Match – Nakamura vs. Rey Mysterio
Nakamura defeated Rey Mysterio with an arm bar submission to close out a fun match, and King Corbin came out and took out Rey, Dominik, and Nakamura as we headed to commercial.
Guess he’s next?
Segment 9
Number One Contender Gauntlet Match – Nakamura vs. King Corbin
Another good match saw Nakamura prevail after hitting Corbin with a kick as he charged in.
Segment 10
Number One Contender Gauntlet Match – Nakamura vs. Daniel Bryan
Bryan came close, but Nakamura hit a kinsasha for the pin and Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, and Paul Heyman came out as we headed to commerical.
Segment 11
Number One Contender Gauntlet Match – Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Adam Pearce
Reigns and Uso beat down Nakamura and hit their finishers on him before Reigns threw Pearce into the ring.
Uso hit Pearce with a superkick and Reigns signaled for the bell to ring. They put Pearce on Nakamura and forced the referee to count the pin.
Whelp, this ending was pretty typical of the stuff we’ve been forced to swallow for a while now. Too bad, it was a good show until then.
