There are 60 places up for grabs in the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches combined, but instead of waiting and shocking the WWE Universe when they appear, many superstars have made their intentions clear and announced that they will be competing in the match itself before the weekend.
The biggest declaration so far was made by Edge on Raw this past week, but which superstars could follow the Rated-R Superstar by announcing on SmackDown tonight that they will be entering the Rumble?
WWE SmackDown News: Apollo Crews
There have been some tweaks to the Apollo Crews character over recent weeks, and a heel turn could be on the agenda very soon. That turn could come on SmackDown tonight, as the former Intercontinental Champion finally aligns with Roman Reigns. That may not be the only big news to centre around Crews tonight, as he may also declare his intention to win the Rumble match itself.
Should he get involved in the Reigns match with Kevin Owens, then we could see Crews embark on a huge storyline with Owens in the near future. That could be kickstarted in the Rumble with one of the two superstars eliminating the other. There certainly looks to be big plans for Crews this year.
WWE SmackDown News: Dominik Mysterio
Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio have both been teasing for weeks that a betrayal could be on the cards at the Rumble this weekend. However, in order for that to happen, then both superstars will need to be in the match.
Dominik could make his intentions clear on SmackDown this evening, as he finally reveals that he will be entering the match this year in the hope of following in his father’s footsteps. It’s massively unlikely that he will win, but it will be a great experience for him to compete in one of the most prestigious matches on the WWE calendar.
WWE SmackDown News: King Corbin
King Corbin could make a royal decreed this evening, and declare his entry to the Royal Rumble match. Corbin looks to be one of the stars that WWE still have an awful lot of trust in, and there’s no denying that he will win at least one world title during his career.
A good showing in the Rumble this year could be huge for him, but once again, it looks to be a big ask for the King to reign supreme in the match itself. Regardless, there could be a moment in the match that sets up his WrestleMania match for this year.
