Last week in the main event, Finn Balor was able to defeat Adam Cole to solidify the fact that he’s the ace of NXT. After the match, Kyle O’Reilly would attack Adam Cole, while Karrion Kross finally stepped up to Finn Balor. They will now meet at NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver.
Finn Balor & Karrion Kross Face Off
Finn Balor would open the show, with that NXT Championship still over his shoulder. Kyle O’Reilly? Beat him. Pete Dunne? Beat him. Adam Cole? Beat him. Balor has been waiting for Karrion Kross since he became champion, and at NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, Kross’s time is up as he’s the next to fall to Balor.
On cue, Kross would hit the ring. This situation was waiting for both men to have their affairs in order. Both men had issues to resolve before they could have this fight man to man without issue. The NXT fans, Finn Balor, and Karrion Kross simply need to know who is the real champion here in NXT.
Balor would tell Kross that he walks like a champion, talks like a champion, but Finn Balor is the champion. Kross doesn’t have what it takes to be in the main event and beat Finn Balor. Karrion Kross would promise that at NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, Balor is gonna be choked out. Finn Balor would promise that Kross will learn what it’s like to be in the main event and choke.
Enter Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
At this time, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch would hit the ringside area and claim that Pete Dunne deserves the next shot. He has a recent pinfall over Balor, held the NXT Championship for over 450 days, and they know he could beat either man in the ring. They know they could beat both men themselves even.
Scarlett would call them out on this, and tell them to put the NXT Tag Team Championships on the line tonight against Kross & Balor. She would goad them into the match and tell them they don’t want to be considered cowards, and that had them accept the match. It’s Balor & Kross vs. Lorcan & Burch in the main event, with Balor having a chance to become double champion.
