On Friday, April 2, it was announced that Bridgerton cast member, Regé-Jean Page will not be returning to the show for the second season. The Duke of Hastings, who is loved by female viewers will not be returning to the series. This news was confirmed with a statement released by Lady Whistledown herself.

The statement read, “While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”
While the Duke of Hastings will not be growing our screens on season two, the new Duchess, Daphne will be back on the show. “Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer—more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”
Bridgerton Season 2 – What We Know About The Netflix Hit Show
Bridgerton season one followed Julia Quinn’s first novel in the series, The Duke And I, which told the love story between the Duke of Hastings (Page), Simon and Daphne (Dynevor). Netflix has since confirmed that the second season will follow the story of the oldest Bridgerton son, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his quest for love.
Season 2 might be inspired by the story of The Viscount Who Loved Me. In this story, Viscount Bridgerton finally finds a wife, but he is distracted by her older sister, Kate. This means the Duke wouldn’t have been significant in this story. Deadline also reported that Rege-Jean Page was contested for only one season of the show. However, his fans will miss him with Daphne on the show.
