Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Results!
We’re all set for a throwback Smackdown and we’re curious if it’ll just be 90s era graphics or a homage type of show like they’ve done on Raw.
It’s going to be interesting to see what the post Daniel Bryan Smackdown will look like, so let’s get to the action and find out.
1980s and 1990s collide
The opening was full of 1980s imagery with the old video game logo. Not bad, but the revamped WWE symbol more resembled the 80s WWF block letters as well.
The commentators dressed up as well and they had the digital fist.
They took us back to the WWE Championship match from August 26, 1999 when Triple H defended the title against the Rock with Shawn Michaels as the special referee.
In the end, Triple H retained thanks to Shawn Michaels’ interference.
Now that the 80s and 90s have clashed, Roman Reigns got the actual show started by coming out to the ring with Jey Uso and Paul Heyman flanking him.
We were shown a replay of Roman Reigns defeated Daniel Bryan last week to bar Bryan from Smackdown, and Cesaro came out to help.
Jey attacked Cesaro and forced him to watch a con-chair-to by Reigns on Bryan.
Heyman started it off by saying Roman Reigns asked him to eulogize Daniel Bryan’s career, and he did so with a 10 bell salute.
Heyman did the dings himself with a smirk and Reigns couldn’t keep a straight face.
Controlled chants of “you suck!” rained down as Reigns readied to say something. He reminded us that he’s a man of his word and he should be acknowledged for carrying everything on his back.
He gives every what they want. Bryan didn’t want to be there so he wrecked him. If Bryan really wanted to be there he just had to acknowledge Reigns.
Reigns replacement faces opposition
Reigns then said they replaced him with someone that will acknowledge him and Jimmy Uso came out and embraced Reigns, Jey and he gave props to Heyman.
Cesaro then came out and told them to hold on and asked if he heard them right that he replaced Daniel Bryan.
He said it’s impossible to replace Bryan. He doesn’t have time for Reigns as he has a match with Seth Rollins, and Rollins attacked him from behind.
They made their way down the ramp brawling before the officials separated them.
Teddy Long came out and with the power that’s been granted to him by Adam Pearce, he proclaimed that if Cesaro beats Rollins he’ll get his championship match at Backlash.
Reigns knocked Cesaro out of the ring from behind and Rollins there him into the ring steps.
Rollins then threw him into the ring and stomped him down in the corner as we headed to commercial.
WWE Smackdown guesses this is our first match of the night.
