After 166 days of being TNT Champion, and nine successful defenses under his belt, it’s time for Darby Allin to face a true challenge. Last week during AEW Blood & Guts, Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page threw him down some concrete stairs to send a message, and potentially injured his shoulder in the process. Later that same night, he learned that his ninth title defense would come on the next episode of Dynamite.

Tonight is the night, and a broken down Darby Allin will have to face Miro, and it might be the hardest match he has faced in AEW. Before the match, he’d ask Miro what he has done in AEW with ‘the leash off’. He’s been a gamer, a best man, but all Allin sees is a generic son of a bitch. Allin is gonna prove once again he’s the toughest man in AEW, or die trying.

Can Darby Allin Get To Defense Number 10?

Before the bell could even ring, Miro would assault Darby Allin and stomp the bad shoulder out before throwing him into the ropes. Miro chucked Allin into the barricades, and even Sting couldn’t bring order to the situation by pointing his bat at Miro. Allin would be hit with a lariat over the barricade, before Miro threw him back to ringside.

Page & Sky would be cackling up in the stands like they’re Statler and Waldorf, as Miro drug Allin back into the ring. Allin yelled for it, and the bell would finally ring and Miro hit the running thrust kick, but Allin kicked out at two before rolling out of the ring. Miro thought he won, but came outside to take two shotgun dropkicks, before being shoved into the ringpost.

Allin got into the ring and hit the ropes with insane speed, before nailing a cannonball senton. Miro would catch the coffin drop, and hit a release German Suplex on the outside. Back in the ring, Miro was able to get a two count. At ringside, Sky hit a chop block on Sting before he scampered off into the night alongside Page.

Miro Finally Shows His True Potential In AEW

Back in the ring, Allin was thrown chest first into the turnbuckle, before Miro choked him with his knee. Sting was back up but limping, and Miro hit Allin with a quick elbow drop in the middle of the ring. Allin was draped over the apron and Miro would drag him back into the middle of the ring before a deadlift Gutwrench Suplex.

Miro would go for a waist lock, but Allin slipped out and applied a sleeper hold. Allin held onto it even as Miro rolled to the outside, and Miro grabbed the TNT Championship but the referee stopped him. Instead, Miro just slammed Darby into a wall to break the hold.

He’d roll Allin into the ring, and go after the injured shoulder before throwing him around the ring. Allin was able to hit a stunner before getting a two count off a small package. A second stunner set up the Coffin Drop, but Miro caught the waist and went for a German Suplex.

Allin landed on his feet and got a roll up, before hitting the Code Red for a another two count. Miro quickly applied the Game Over, and nearly broke Allin in half. The referee had no choice but to call for the bell.

This was the best match for Miro yet in AEW, and he showed great chemistry with Allin. Allin played the underdog role to perfection, but was too beaten down and well scouted to overcome Miro. The referee had to call for the bell, and Allin didn’t quit, his body just did. It was a car crash of a match, and a chaotic way to end the show. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)
