It has been six years since Sting has stepped into a ring in front of a live crowd, that being his match with Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions 2015. He retired after that match, but retirement in professional wrestling rarely means anything. Sting has been building up to this since his debut, and tonight alongside Darby Allin, he will look to take down Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky. Page has a long history with Allin, and Sky was a big Sting fan as a kid, but is ready to take his icons spot.

Sting Came Ready To Prove He Still Has It

Allin started this match off by throwing himself at Ethan Page, as Sting went after Sky. Sky would suplex Sting on the ramp, but Sting popped right back up and hit the throw Sky onto his partner before diving onto them. Sky went into the ring and Allin would start the match properly, and Sting would tag in quickly but use Allin as a weapon before setting up a bulldog.

Sting would wrench on the arm of Sky, and Allin followed up by locking in a Fujiwara Armbar. Allin went for a fancy armdrag, but Page attacked him on the ropes and took control. Sky hit a flipping cutter before Page tagged in and enjoyed one of his favorite hobbies- throwing Allin around.

Sky tagged in and nailed a major backbreaker, before Page hit a big vertical suplex. Allin was isolated, and Sting was desperate for a tag. The second Allin got free, Sting got a tag but referee Aubrey Edwards didn’t see the tag. Page & Sky executed a trick from heel tag team 101 to perfection, and Page threw Allin from the ring and onto his brothers at ringside as a follow up.

Scorpio Sky Should Have Never Met His Hero

Sting pulled his partner from the crowd, and had to put Allin back in the ring or risk losing by count out. Page was ready to abuse Allin some more, and Allin got himself in at nine. Ego’s Edge was set up, but Allin countered out and applied a sleeper hold. Page drove him into the corner, but took the stunner.

Sting got a recognized tag, before nailing Stinger Splashes on both men and even a Code Red on Ethan Page for a two count. Allin wanted a tag, and this was a mistake. Sky crotched him in the top rope, Page hit a chop block on Sting, and pulled Allin onto Sting.

Sting would apply a Scorpion Deathlock on Page, Allin got a Fujiwara Armbar, and Scorpio Sky got a heel hook on Allin to drag him off. Edwards broke the situation up, and Sting & Sky got tags in. Sky would face off with his icon again, but Sting fired up after some kicks but missed a Stinger Splash. He countered the cutter into a Scorpion Death Drop for the win!

Considering Sting hasn’t wrestled a proper match in years, this was a solid performance. That was all that made an otherwise average match worthy of a rabid crowd reaction, but every man played his part well here. Sting might have more in the tank than we all thought. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
