Earlier today, the rumors of Tommy End making his AEW debut were reaching a fever pitch. In the middle of his Instagram Story, we’d see him drop the name “Malakai Black”, and there were rumors he was on location in Miami. This is way before the usual 90 day non-compete clause from WWE would be up, but one way or the other: he is now in AEW, and made a hell of an impact on his debut.
The Blackouts Weren’t From Bad Weather Like Commentary Claimed
The first sign that something was up came during the opening strap match between Cody Rhodes & QT Marshall, the lights went out. Nothing came out of that, but something felt off about it. AEW has had issues before, but nothing like a full outage.
They played it off as bad weather, but it didn’t feel genuine, even coming from Jim Ross. However, when Arn Anderson would look to talk about the future of the Nightmare Family later in the night? The lights went out once again. This time, Tommy End would be waiting when they came back on.
Exit Tommy End, Enter Malakai Black
However, this isn’t the man who Excalibur wrestled 15 years ago in Germany. He’d look dark and deranged, quickly hitting a set of Black Mass kicks to take down both Arn Anderson & Cody Rhodes. Both men fell with a single blow, and Black would make his way to the back.
This was a great way to bring Black into AEW, and the first shock debut with them back on the road. The double tease with the blackouts alone were a smart move, and a way to keep everyone guessing.
No one expected Black in AEW until at least All Out, which would have been a few days after the 90 day non-compete deal with AEW would have ended. The crowd gave a great reaction, and we will be seeing him right in a high profile angle with Cody Rhodes.
Will Malaki Black become a major star for AEW? Can he defeat Cody Rhodes? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
