Perhaps the most exciting thing in professional wrestling at the moment is the big three way partnership between AEW, NJPW and Impact Wrestling. These three companies have been sharing talents for months. As NJPW ramps up it’s scope of shows in the United States, it’s getting easier for Impact & AEW stars to show up on NJPW programming, shown by Moose being set to face Tomohiro Ishii in a few weeks. However, one name to not expect in a NJPW ring is Darby Allin.
Darby Allin Doesn’t Want To Destroy His Body In Another Company
When it comes to being dedicated to your company, Darby Allin might be the reliable name that AEW has. Recently at ComicCon, a fan asked Allin if he intended to be one of the names going through the so-called “Forbidden Door”, but that doesn’t seem to be a plan. Allin would tell this fan that there isn’t any interest, as he doesn’t want to get hurt wrestling for another company.
This makes sense, especially given the high risk style that has made Allin a fan favorite. Since signing with AEW, he has kept up with indy dates, but his role in AEW has gotten bigger and bigger since then. He’s got a great gig in AEW, being well protected in the ring, working alongside a legend in Sting, and potentially being set to be a future AEW World Champion.
NJPW Tours Can Be Grueling
Despite this, fans are still craving to see what someone like Allin could do in a tour like Best of The Super Juniors. Putting someone like him in the ring with the likes of Ryu Lee, Taiji Ishimori, El Phantasmo and Hiromu Takahashi would almost certainly produce some instant classics. However, a long tour with the style of Allin would be a recipe for disaster, hence his reasoning for not wanting to work with NJPW.
With someone like him, it’d have to be a big match, and with how well protected he is in AEW? It’d have to be someone he could beat or realistically lose too. This is just too much trouble currently for a match, and Allin is fine stealing the show in AEW.
