The NXT Tag Team Titles have been front and center on NXT 2.0, with teams both new and old have set their sights on current champions MSK. MSK will team with Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs to take on The Grizzled Young Veterans, Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams. The four teams brawled last week after GYV and Hayes & Williams stated their cases for a title opportunity, setting up an eight man tag. Or so was planned. Instead, MSK have opted to put their championships on the line in a Fatal Four Way tag team epic! Hell, make it elimination rules so the last team standing are true champions.
Trick Williams Let’s Carmelo Hayes Down, Grizzled Young Veterans Take Control
Coming in with all the energy in the world and respect to earn – MSK were keen to leave with the belts once again. They’ve been unstoppable in NXT, but tonight they have two fresh faced teams and some old rivals. Gibson & Lee would start this match, and a quick sunset flip got a two count. Lee would start fast with some strikes and a tag to Carter, ending in a foot stomp to the back.
An arm drag sent Gibson into the corner of Hayes, who would tag himself in before taking Carter down. Trick Williams tagged in, and helped Hayes with a big leg drop for a two count. Jensen tagged in and Williams would drop him with a big jumping lariat. Briggs & Jensen hit a couple combo strikes before just dropping everyone.
They tagged in Lee, who flipped over the corner post with a flying senton onto Trick & Hayes. Carter tagged in and Williams fell to the finisher of MSK, taking the first team out of the match as we went to a commercial break. Back from the break, Lee was in the GYV corner and Gibson would keep him away from any kind of tag. The dropkick into Complete Shot dropped Lee for a two count.
MSK Fall To Brute Strength? Not Likely.
Lee tried to get free, before getting cornered by Drake but he’d twist into a tag. Carter would give his all with a fiery comeback, nailing a German Suplex and a shining wizard in the corner before a PK and running Shooting Star Press – Gibson making the save by dragging Drake outside. Gibson took a moonsault on the outside, and Carter would run into a Ticket To Mayhem but Briggs was now legal.
A Chokeslam and Powerbomb combo took GYV out, leaving just MSK and the heavy hitters. Carter is rocked after the Ticket to Mayhem, and Lee was having to rise up. He’d take a back elbow, and running big boot for a near fall. Lee would take a double chokeslam, but Carter would take out Jensen – and Lee got a roll up win.
A fast paced and insane match that once again would show the skill of the NXT Tag Team division. It’s fallen to the back row in NXT 2.0, but tonight it was in the main event and stole the show. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)
Who can stop MSK? After the match, Imperium picked the bones of MSK and Brooks & Jensen would make a late save. The crowd was behind Imperium as the show faded to black, the odd hatred of MSK contiuning. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
