Darby Allin will never be one to step down from a challenge, and Nick Comoroto is just that. Comoroto is backed up by QT Marshall & Aaron Solow, and has even given legends like Dustin Rhodes issues due to his insane size and power. Tonight, Allin will have to leverage his speed more than ever – just to have a chance of survival.
The TBS Championship Is Here
Before we’d get to this match, we had a big announcement from AEW owner Tony Khan. Tony Schiavone would be the one to relay the message, and has been teasing JR & Excalibur all night that he knows and they don’t. Schiavone would hit the ring, and Aubrey Edwards was here with something under a sheet.
Two years ago – AEW Dynamite changed the game. One year ago – we got the TNT Championship. Now today, coinciding with the move to TBS on January 5th, we have the TBS Championship. The women of AEW have another prize to battle for, and Aubrey Edwards would hold it high.
Sting Has Taken Too Many Diamond Cutters To Fall To QT Marshall
Allin dove onto Comoroto to start this match, before hitting a few Coffin Splashes in the ring. Looking for a stunner would leave him open for a power slam. With Allin slowed down, he’d be easy to throw around the ring by Comoroto. Allin would just keep on coming, showing zero fear even when Comoroto would shrug off his strikes.
However, he’d manage a stunner before a Coffin Drop – which was enough to take Comoroto down. After the match, QT Marshall hit the Diamond Cutter on Sting, but Sting popped right back up – kicked him low and hit the Scorpion Death Drop.
Darby Allin is the king of David vs. Goliath matches, and seeing as he’s taken Miro to the limit, Comoroto was a challenge but not a mountain. Match Rating: 2/5 (**)
