Tully Blanchard has been someone who has worked with Sting for years, more than enough time to decide that he really doesn’t like the guy. This is why he tasked Shawn Spears to try and take out Darby Allin – hoping it’d get him one step closer to taking Sting down. That failed, but tonight Sting steps into the ring alongside Darby Allin to take on FTR – who will have Tully Blanchard right there to coach them to victory. As an aside – seek out their match from AEW Dark with Anthony Greene & Stallion Rogers. It was incredible.
Darby Allin Crashes To The Apron
Sting got a massive ovation, and was painted for war tonight – as was Darby Allin. FTR had some nWo inspired gear, a faction which Sting fought knows all too well. He fought The Outsiders like hell, and tonight he’ll fight FTR. FTR would try to corner Darby Allin, before he’d slip away and tag in Sting.
He’d give the fans what they want, but FTR got what they wanted. They’d try for a double team, before getting taken out by the legend. Some scoop slams would have been followed by Stinger Splash, but Harwood pulled Cash out of the way. They’d isolate Sting, before Sting hit a hard shoulder tackle – and would flop down into the groin of Harwood.
Sting Still Has It
Allin got a tag handpicked the pace up, before taking FTR outside and diving out with a Coffin Drop. He’d be caught by both men, and thrown into the apron. Allin would be thrown around in the ring before hitting Code Red. This only got a two count, and Harwood hit a big lariat. Harwood applied an Abdominal Stretch, and FTR made a fake tag to switch it up – but it wasn’t accepted.
Allin would get a visual pinfall as the referee argued with FTR, before fighting his way out of their corner. He’d roll to a tag and Sting would run in and start throwing hands before a massive spinebuster for a two count. FTR wanted to get Allin with mindbreaker, but Sting hit a crossbody for a two count. Sting would have to block a Tombstone, but set up the Death Coffin Drop combo.
Wheeler made the save, but Sting got a double Stinger Splash. Blanchard handed Harwood a chair, and he’d try to bait Sting into it – but failed. Harwood met the chair head on, Blanchard got punched and Scorpion Deathlock was applied. Wheeler tried to make the save – but couldn’t as he took a Coffin Drop. Sting & Allin wins!
A very fun tag team match. Sting is always impressive for his age, and he fought like hell tonight – doing even more than Allin. FTR are one of the best tag teams around, and it showed in this one. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
