The build to this third match has been a weird one. With Arn kind of bullying Cody to become tougher, it’s starting to feel like this is a way to make us feel sorry for Cody and start cheering him again rather than the booing he’s currently getting.

The third match between both Malakia Black and Cody Rhodes feels like a weird direction. It feels like that won’t happen with Malakia still massively over with the fans.
It is looking like Malakia will lose the third match with him selling a sort of rib injury in the last match. It feels like when this happens, Cody Rhodes will get even more heel heat from the fans making it feel pretty confusing what is happening with Cody Rhodes.

If Cody Rhodes isn’t turning heel, this is a way to get him back in the be good. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like this will work, and it will make Malakia look like more of the good guy. However, the confusion behind this story may have some light at the end.
Malakia is telling an interesting story, and it is something surprising that we currently don’t know anything about. There have been subtle storytelling through his run in AEW, but this match could take the story to the next level and hopefully not bury two wrestlers in one match.
