Next week on WWE’s tuesday show, NXT 2.0 – it’s time for Halloween Havoc. The iconic WCW PPV branding was brought back last year for a special episodes, which was main evented by Io Shirai & Candice LeRae in a Tables, Ladders and Scares match for the NXT Women’s Championship. While we know the main event this year will be Bron Breakker taking on Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Championship – the host was up in the air. Shotzi Blackheart did great, but a true horror icon takes the reigns – as Chucy The Evil Doll is the host.
This Isn’t Even The Debut Of Chucky On A Wrestling Show
You read all this correctly, Chucky of Child’s Play fame is hosting a WWE event. This is some cross promotion with the new show on Syfy, a network WWE still airs shows on when needed. While this originally feels odd, it isn’t even the first time Chucky has been part of a wrestling show. Back in WCW – Rick Steiner had a run in with the evil doll, in a commonly criticized angle.
It was considered to be one of the signs of a downfall of WCW, but wasn’t as bad as Robocop having to help Sting. So long as Chucky doesn’t actually show up and cost the son of Rick Steiner the main event, and simply is there to help announce matches? It could work. However, given the fan backlash of NXT 2.0 – this is not likely to help the situation very much, and could be seen as a slippery slope indeed.
What Else Does Halloween Havoc Have To Offer?
While the card isn’t until next week, we do have some idea of what to expect on this show. We know Bron Breakker will be challenging for the NXT Championship in just his second singles match in WWE NXT – hoping to take down Tommaso Ciampa, which is a hard ask for sure. Raquel Gonzalez defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Mandy Rose, and the associates of Rose in Toxic Attraction also have a title match.
They will go up against both champs Zoey Stark & Io Shirai and the team of Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. The other known thing is a returning superstar, who is likely to be Dakota Kai – as the voice and figure matches the mysterious video WWE showed.
