Lauren Boebert has faced huge criticism after the US Congresswoman made a tongue in cheek comment about a previous tweet by Alec Baldwin, which focused on a police shooting.

Alec, for his part, has been left feeling distraught after he had fired a gun on the set of ‘Rust’, which unknown to him was loaded. His actions ended up killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.
And given that the family of the deceased has been in mourning, Lauren’s comments have been called out for being out of order. Alec Tweet’s stated: “I’m going to make bright, banana yellow t-shirts that read My hands are up.
“Please don’t shoot me. Who wants one?” to which Lauren replied with: @AlecBaldwin are these still available? Asking for a movie producer.”
The comments caused mass anger on social media, which was understandable. Given that Lauren is a Congresswomen, many felt that she should have chosen her words wisely due to the mass influence that she has because of her position.
Not only that, the last thing that people want to see is a US politician mocking the death of someone who had died in the most tragic of circumstances.
In response, one user said: “Ms boebart, and you should be ashamed of yourself politicizing it,” while another remarked: “This is the most deeply horrible thing I’ve ever read.
“I can’t imagine what it feels like to accidentally kill someone, but I imagine it feels a whole lot worse when people in a position of power mock and harass you right afterwards.”
Lauren has yet to comment on the attacks that she has been getting. Regardless of what people may think, she has put herself in a difficult position. By issuing an apology, she will draw more attention to this issue which is something she could do without.
But by staying silent, she risks incensing more people, which could have repercussions for her position if public opinion does go against her. Lauren should have known better, and it is probably wise that she thinks about what she is going to say going forward.
