Britney Spears has finally managed to break free from the restrictions that have been imposed on her through the conservatorship that began in 2007.
And after having suffered for 13 years, she has now been able to tell her side of the story and find some happiness. This experience is something that Prince’s father was all too aware of.
After all, during the allegations of abuse that Michael was being subjected to, there were swathes of newspaper articles suggesting that he was guilty. This is despite the fact that he had been cleared at trial. That is why Prince feels Michael would have lent her his support.
In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Prince said: “Knowing my father and the compassion that he had for individuals who wanted to remain in control of their own life.
“It was his goal to be in control of his own life – I would think that he would be very supportive of her.” Michael and Britney do have some history. They had struck up a friendship when they performed together at Madison Square Gardens.
And given that Michael was outspoken towards the entertainment industry, which was exerting so much control over artists, he would have understood where Britney was coming from.
He added: “He would understand the place that she is coming from. I think that he would wholeheartedly support her.”
Michael may no longer be here, but it does present an opportunity for Prince to carry on his legacy. With that in mind, there is always the chance that Prince could reach out to Britney and offer her his help.
It is not likely to do any harm, given that Britney has alienated herself from the majority of her family. This is something that Michael understood all too well during the latter parts of his life which he spent, for the most part, alone with his children.
