Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey has revealed that he opposes the idea of mandating vaccines for children against Covid-19.

The actor, for his part, has already taken the vaccine himself. Therefore, before any claims of being an anti-vaxxer emerged, Mathew had the chance to set out his position clearly.
He believed that there was not enough data available in order for him to consider before making a decision. As such, it was not possible to make a rational choice.
During a talk at the ‘The New York Times’ DealBook,’ he said: “I couldn’t mandate having to vaccinate the younger kids. I still want to find out more information…Where are the numbers in my favour?”
This has to be a carefully considered decision given that Mathew has three children with his wife Camila Alves: Levi, Vida, and Livingston. And yet, his stance naturally raised the question of whether he was against vaccination.
Mathew dismissed the idea and suggested that he was just a concerned parent. He added: “Do I think that there’s any kind of scam or conspiracy theory?
“Hell no, I don’t. There’s not a conspiracy theory on the vaccines. I’m vaccinated. My wife’s vaccinated.” This scrutiny on Mathew’s stance has come in light of the speculation that he may run for Governor of Texas.
As of now, there has been no confirmation that he will be doing so, but his views on vaccination are certainly going to be something critical for the voters.
The state is known for being conservative in nature. As such, people are not generally going to want things being mandated. Nevertheless, Mathew does believe it is important to take precautions such as quarantining and covid testing.
He continued: “I’m in a position though where I can do that, and I understand that not everyone can do that.” Mathew’s position is something that many parents will feel out there.
But by virtue of him being in the public eye, it is safe to say that he is going to get questioned more than most. With that in mind, he has to decide what is best for him and his family.
