Following his definitive victory over Darby Allin two weeks ago on AEW Dynamite, someone else is crazy enough to face The Purveyor Of Violence himself, Jon Moxley. This is Joey Janela, a man who has already faced Moxley in the first ever non-sanctioned match in AEW history. He’s taken the worst Moxley could give him in a match without rules, will he fare better in a normal match? The match was confirmed by AEW on Twitter.
Jon Moxley And His Warpath
Ever since knocking off AEW’s golden boy, Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley has viewed himself as untouchable. He doesn’t seem bothered with capturing the AEW Championship, held by old WWE Rival Chris Jericho, instead simply wanting to hurt people to send a message to AEW management. Moxley is angry that they refused to sanction his match against Kenny Omega at AEW Full Gear, and will now tear through their entire roster in response. It began with Darby Allin, and it won’t end with Joey Janela.
What Has Joey Janela Been Up To?
AEW’s Bad Boy, Joey Janela has been wrapped up in a feud with Shawn Spears, having lost to him at Full Gear due to interference by Tully Blanchard, and being eliminated from a Battle Royale two weeks ago by Spears, who wasn’t even in the match. This past Wednesday, he didn’t show up to AEW, instead appearing at a Game Changer Wrestling event to clear his mind. A win over Moxley would do a lot to get his career back on track, and if he does it without weaponry, it would help shed his reputation as simply a ‘hardcore’ wrestler. Moxley is currently the top ranked man in AEW by their official rankings, a win would do wonders for Janela’s positioning, not even being in the top 5.
Other Announced And Speculated Happenings
While this match will surely bring in some viewers, also announced for next weeks edition of AEW Dynamite is Dustin Rhodes & The Young Bucks vs. Sammy Guevera & Proud N’ Powerful (Santana & Ortiz), which will continue the issues between The Elite & The Inner Circle.
We also expect to hear more about The Butcher & The Blade, following their attack on Cody Rhodes this past week. What were their motives, and are they linked to The Bunny (Allie) and her treatment at the hands of Cody’s wife?
