It’s the 20th anniversary of the original Xbox and what better way to set off the pyro and hoopla than to drop a trailer for a show that was announced over eight years ago? That’s right, the Halo live-action television adaptation is done!
Halo to Hit Screens Next Year
The show was originally announced at E3 2013 with Steven Spielberg being onboard. Along the way, it never got off the ground. Remember, it was announced during a time of Microsoft being on the mend and restructuring.
There was even speculation that radical changes could happen to the profitable Xbox side of things. Almost a decade later and the gaming platform is enjoying its fourth generation and Halo is one of the main eventers of the platform. Perhaps it’s for the best as video game adaptations were still finding their way for the most part. Not everything could deliver like Resident Evil.
The nine-episode series will air on Paramount+ a shift from Showtime. It will feature Pablo Schrieber as Master Chief and Cortana—both the in-game AI and Windows AI—voice actress Jen Taylor. Bokeem Woodbine of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Fargo portrays Soren-066, a failed candidate of the SPARTAN-II experiments and currently—as of the show—a privateer.
Natasha Culzac, Bentley Kalu, and Kate Kennedy will portray the three new Spartans Riz-028, Vannak-134, and Kai-125, respectively. Expect more on the Halo show once an official premiere date is announced.
If the first season really hits, we could see an uptick in TV adaptations of video games. The Witcher and Castlevania did the job for Netflix and Fallout is getting a show as well. It looks as though video games are pretty much in the position comic books were in the 2010s.
