Riho has had a hard time getting back to the top of the AEW Women’s division. The inaugral AEW Women’s World Champion had a chance to get another title shot at All Out in the Casino Battle Royale… a match she wasn’t properly eliminated from. Now, she has another chance because of this, and it’s one on one this time. Beat the champ, and get a title shot. Simple as that!
Lucha Bros Get A Two Out Of Three Falls Challenge From FTR
Before this match, we would hear from the Living Lucha Legends themselves – FTR. They once again proved that in the eight man tag on Dynamite. Lucha Bros have only beaten FTR once, and that was pinning the wrong man. Next week, they want a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships once again.
However, not under normal rules. No, they want to do this lucha libre style, and make things two out of three falls. Should be a great one! These two teams mesh together well, and this is the best way to end their feud for now – and has been made official for Rampage next week, alongside Guevara vs. Nese.
Britt Baker Has Never Beaten Riho In Singles
Riho would start things by battling off a wrist lock from the champ, being able to turn things around and get control of Baker. Baker would do her best to get back control and looked for Lockjaw, while commentary reminded everyone that Baker has lost to Riho both one on one, and in a four way. Riho would be choked on the ropes by Hayter & Rebel, as Baker distracted the referee.
Even this wouldn’t slow her down, as she cartwheeled to misdirect Baker, before nailing a dropkick and sending her to the outside! Following up with a crossbody to the floor, she took out both Baker & Rebel. Back in the ring, Riho got overzealous and took a complete shot into the corner – and went into the commercial break on the defensive.
Back from the break, Riho would be still battling from underneath, but that’s almost where she shines. Baker would go for a suplex, and Riho slipped out and nailed some heavy forearm strikes before taking a Slingblade for a two count. Riho blocked some ground and pound blows from Baker, before taking some boots in the corner.
Finally Getting Her Rematch For The AEW World Women’s Championship!
Baker would run into double boots before the flying headscissor took her down – with Riho following up with a running knee strike. Northern Lights Suplex would be blocked, and instead Baker hit a suplex into the corner. Air Raid Crash would be set up, but Riho slipped out and hit the release Snap Dragon Suplex for a two count. Diving Foot Stomp was set, but Baker dodged and nailed a ripcord elbow and Air Raid Crash for two!
Baker looked for the curb stomp, but it was dodged by Riho who nailed the Northern Lights Suplex and the Diving Foot Stomp for a two count. Running knee strike would miss, and Baker would look for the neckbreaker, and was rolled up for the three count!
Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)
Following this match, we’d get some matches announced for Dynamite in Georgia. Andrade El Idolo has Cody Rhodes in a Street Fight. Darby Allin teams with Sting against Billy & Colton Gunn. Ruby Soho & Kris Statlnder close the quarter finals of the TBS Championship tournament. Bryan Danielson takes on Alan Angels. Will FTR be able to beat Lucha Bros in their coming match? Could Riho be the one to end the reign of Britt Baker? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
