Seth Rogen has faced backlash over his social media activity in which he was deemed to have downplayed a user’s tweet, which stated that he had been robbed in Los Angeles.
Seth Rogen Slammed On Social Media For Downplaying Youtuber Casey Neistat’s LA Robbery
Seth, for his part, is known for being a comedian. Therefore, it is important to bear in mind that his words should be taken with a pinch of salt, as it is not always clear whether he is making a tongue in cheek comment or not.
And so it showed in the following Twitter interaction here. In the tweet, the victim of the robbery (Youtuber Casey Neistat) states the following: “So our cars got robbed this morning.
But tremendous appreciation and gratitude to the hardworking officers at the @LAPDWestLA who not only arrested the motherfu–er but they got all of our stolen goods back.”
In response, Seth decided to give a comedic answer which ended up creating more anger than making the mood become lighter.
Rather than acknowledging the stress that Casey went through, he decided to downplay it by suggesting that this is often something that occurs in the city.
In his reply, he remarked: “Dude, I’ve lived here for over 20 years. You’re nuts, haha. It’s lovely here. Don’t leave anything valuable in it. It’s called living in a big city.”
He added: “You can be mad but I guess I don’t personally view my car as an extension of myself and I’ve never really felt violated any of the 15 or so times my car was broken in to. Once a guy accidentally left a cool knife in my car so if it keeps happening you might get a little treat.”
The response on social media was not too kind to Seth. Some people felt that his privilege was the reason why he decided to comment in that way. After all, it is clear that he is not exactly short of money.
In addition, even if something were to happen to him in this way, he is not likely to be affected by it, given the huge publicity it would generate in trying to resolve it.
One person on Twitter wrote: “Multi-millionaire celebrity explains to you why having your car broken into isn’t a big deal, and you should just get over it.”
Cancel culture has made social media activity even more dangerous. And having seen what has happened with Seth’s post, it is probably wise that he considers what he writes before he decides to post such things.
